WASHINGTON, D.C. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Looks like Dad is getting the bare necessities for Father’s Day (Jun. 20) this year: Food and clothes.

According to a survey by the National Retail Federation, 39.9 percent of folks will celebrate Father’s Day by treating their Dear Ol’ Dad to special outing such as brunch or dinner. Overall, $1.9 billion will be spent on food for Father.

Another 36.7 percent plan to get Dad new clothes, which will surely include work shirts and those go-to Father’s Day ties.

Others will shell out $1.2 billion on electronics and gadgets for the Old Man, while $578 million will be dropped on another Dad staple – tools or appliances.

Meanwhile, three out of 10 people will opt to give their dad a gift card so he can get himself something nice of his choice.

When all is said and done, the average person will have spent $94.32 on a gift for Dad, up slightly from the $90.89 price tag last year.
