NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Queens, New York, is looking for one talented person to make an impact on the local landscape.

The Queens Museum of Art, in conjunction with the Creative Time organization for arts, is searching for that one big idea that could totally transform the borough through their “Open Door” contest.

They’re looking for creative minds to pitch proposals for what they would do if given a huge public space to build an original piece of artwork.

Spokesperson Nato Thompson says it can be anything from a mural to an interactive film piece, so long as it blows people’s minds.

He explains, “There’s always the danger with public art that if people don’t like it there will be a strong reaction against it. What’s worse, though, is if it’s boring and no one cares about it at all.”

Even with the pressure on, Thompson says what matters most is actually showing the public how art is born.
