NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The people have the right to elect the next American soda.

That’s the idea behind Mountain Dew’s latest campaign, “DEWmocracy,” where consumers have all the power.

Since July 2009, fans have been coming up with new flavors to join the Dew family.

There are now three finalists in the running, all with their own colors, package designs, and devoted followings.

It’s between “Mountain Dew Distortion” blasted with lime, “Mountain Dew Typhoon” with tropical flavors, and “Mountain Dew White Out” infused with a smooth citrus taste, all hitting shelves nationwide this month.

Like candidates in any campaign, TV ad spots made by fans supporting each flavor will begin airing April 26.

But only one soda will survive.

Now through June 14, fans can taste-test the beverages and vote on their favorite at DEWmocracy.com. The winning flavor will become an official soft drink on Labor Day 2010.
