Fourth Of July Is A Real Circus
The Fourth of July can be a real circus -- literally.
Thursday, July 1, 2010 1:34 GMT
SAN FRANCISCO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) America is celebrating its 234th birthday on Sunday (Jul. 4), and its going to be a full-on circus.Playland-Not-At-The-Beach, an amusement emporium in San Francisco dedicated to all things wacky, is celebrating independence this weekend (Jul. 3-5) by throwing a double- birthday party for America and one other famous face.
Turns out famed circus man P.T. Barnum was born on the Fourth Of July too, so the Playland will be displaying his iconic, 2,000-year-old Fiji Mermaid along with vintage pinball machines, video games, and other kooky knick-knacks.
Master of Fun Richard Tuck says the Playland will aim to show Americas rich circus history with miniature circuses, sideshow exhibits, and magic shows that will baffle and entertain visitors.
But just to make sure people are paying attention, theyll be quizzed on fun facts about the USA throughout.
