LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Watching and commenting on crappy television shows is a full-time job for Joel McHale, but he leaves the snarky quips at the office.

Although The Soup host scours through more than 70 clips each week with writers and interns to find the comedic gems that end up on the E! recap show, McHale makes a point to keep his snappy comments to himself when he’s watching the tube at home.

He admits it’s easier to bite his tongue during personal TV time because he avoids shows like The Hills and Bad Girls Club.

Instead, he keeps his private television permanently set on The History Channel and Discovery Channel.

As he puts it, “I’m a huge history buff, so that’s definitely more my speed. Not that history doesn’t have is own funny or awkward moments as well.”

The Soup airs Fridays on E!
