MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) The Fourth of July may be a fun celebration for Americans, but it can be a scary day for pets. The loud noises caused by fireworks on Independence Day (Jul. 4) have been known to cause dogs and cats to freak out so bad they run away, leaving some families without their beloved furry friends forever.
Luckily, pet sitters are available to ease the stress on pet parents and their fraidy cats.
Felicia Lembesis of the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters says a lot of animal sitters actually offer special services on July 4.
Some even stay overnight with the scared pets to keep them feeling safe, and masters take full advantage of the top-notch services.
Lembesis explains that some pet sitters even calm animals by holding and talking them through the fireworks, or play calming music to drown out the sounds of explosions.
