Just about anyone can get a key to the city these days -- no major act of heroism required.

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Earning a key to the city of New York doesn’t take a major act of heroism anymore.

The Creative Time organization has commissioned artist Paul Ramirez Jonas to create the Key To City project, where average Joes are bestowed coveted keys to hidden gems in the Big Apple.

Each key that’s handed out unlocks one of 24 locations around NYC, including Alexander Hamilton’s tomb and a hidden ice cream shop, and is earned with even the simplest act.

Creative Time spokesperson Nick Weist says, “You don’t have to land a plane in the Hudson River to get a key to the city. You get the key in a small ceremony at Times Square and someone you know has to give a reason why they’re bestowing the key to you.”

So far, people have received a key for being a good girlfriend, doing well on a test, and making dinner every night.
