SAN DIEGO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) It seems that summertime county fairs around America are still the best places to find truly weird eats.Take, for instance, the fare at the 2010 San Diego County Fair, which kicks off this Friday (Jun. 11) with a theme focused on food.
The SD Fair will offer strange snacks like deep-fried Pop Tarts, fried Oreos, chocolate-dipped pickles, and something called the Belly Buster Burger, a four-pound, 11- inch-wide hamburger topped with 10 slices of cheese among a mess of other condiments.
Meanwhile, the L.A. County Fair sells corn dog-battered fried avocados, while the Minnesota State Fair has been known to offer Pig Lickers dark chocolate-covered bacon strips sprinkled with sea salt.
The State Fair of Texas boasts Texas Fried Jelly Bellys jelly beans rolled in funnel cake batter and, of course, deep-fried.
But the ultimate staple found at carnivals around the country is the deep-fried Twinkie, which packs about 425 calories per serving.
