CHICAGO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Listening in on other people’s conversations sure can be colorful.

Artist Mark Addison Smith has become an expert eavesdropper in creating illustrations that depict conversations he overhears when he’s out in Chicago.

He keeps a little notebook in his back pocket to jot down funny remarks made by people around him, then posts his illustrations on YouLookLikeTheRightType.blogspot.com all in the same day.

Smith says he’s become pretty “crafty” with his eavesdropping, but some people call him out when his doodles look too familiar.

Strangers have approached him upon realizing that his drawings are, in fact, based on a conversation they had with someone.

The artist puts himself in prime spying territory by sitting next to anyone he thinks “will be really loud” on the subway, coffee shop, or anywhere else he may wander.

He says anyone is fair game but tries not to “force it,” so he’s surprised when he hears that perfect, unexpected quote.
