NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) Forget Whole Foods, anyone who wants to truly eat healthy should just pay a visit to their closest public park.Wildman Steve Brill, aka Americas Best Known Forager, leads classes on where and how to find perfectly edible plants and berries in the New York area.
He argues that health food nuts dont need to drop big bucks at specialty organic markets to eat right when going to the local park or even just their backyard can provide delicious eats for free.
Brill explains, There are a lot of edible wild plants out there that are incredibly tasty, very abundant, and totally free.
Plants like field garlic, sheep sorrel, and ladys thumb as well as various berries make for a tasty snack straight out of the ground or in a recipe.
Mushrooms also grow like crazy after its rained and can make a delish dish, especially chicken mushroom, which Brill says tastes like chicken, but better.
