LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Every baseball fan can sing “Take Me Out To The Ballgame,” no matter how many $8 beers they’ve had.

But few know the tale of Jack Norworth, the man who wrote what would become a ballpark staple in 1908 without ever having attended a ballgame in his life.

In fact, Norworth didn’t get to a game until 1940, and didn’t hear his famous ditty sung until 1958.

Despite his major contribution to baseball, today Norworth lies almost nearly forgotten beneath a barely legible marker at grave near Angel Stadium in Anaheim.

But AOL Senior Correspondent Buck Wolf says all that is about to change.

After an AOL article by Chris Epting, baseball fans got together to pay for a suitable memorial.

On Sunday (Jul. 11), Hall Of Famer Rollie Fingers and dozens of little leaguers will gather at Norworth’s grave to honor baseball’s unofficial anthem and salute the songwriter’s life in the only proper way – with plenty of peanuts and Cracker Jack.
