OAKLAND, Calif. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – No matter how you slice it, Wonder Bread will last forever.

While creating a series of art pieces made from Wonder Bread, Oakland-based artist Catherine McEver discovered something amazing and simultaneously troublesome – Wonder Bread is immortal.

She embroidered intricate patterns into slices of the bread four years ago, selling photographs of the work online.

Though the laws of food preservation state that a slice of bread that old should’ve molded by now, the Wonder Bread art has stayed perfectly intact without even the smallest bit of decay.

Says McEver: “The bread looks like the day it was born. It’s a bit stale and hard but that’s it. It’s not surprising with all the chemicals in Wonder Bread, but it’s still astounding.”

She’s amazed that her project “will last ‘til the end of time,” but says Wonder Bread isn’t a medium she’ll be using again despite its longevity.
