WASHINGTON, D.C. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Hot dogs will be flowing across America this Fourth of July – and so will the wacky toppings.

According to Tom Super of the National Hot Dog & Sausage Council (NHDSC), 150 million hot dogs will be consumed on July 4th – enough to stretch from San Diego to Washington, D.C., five times.

Super says the fixings on those wieners will vary greatly depending on which region folks are from.

People in Boston, for instance, like to top their franks with baked beans, while Kansas City dogs often boast melted Swiss cheese.

In Georgia and West Virginia folks pack on coleslaw, and in Chicago, as Super puts it, “They throw the whole garden on top.”

Super says the condiment combinations are endless, so there’s absolutely NO need to settle for boring old ketchup.

In fact, the NHDSC frowns upon ketchup use “after the age of 18” as part of proper hot dog etiquette.

Another rule: Never, ever take more than five bites to wolf down a wiener.
