Nose Jobs: Not exactly a good gift for that recent grad in your life.

GLENDALE, Calif. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – If you’re trying to sniff out the perfect grad gift for your kid, here’s a hint: It’s not a nose job.According to Los Angeles-based plastic surgeon Dr. Vladimir Grigoryants, a nose job isn’t exactly the best way to set up a recent grad for confidence and success in the future.
However, the doc says many parents do splurge on rhinoplasty for their grads, especially in the image-obsessed parts of America like Southern California, where folks are “pressured to have movie star looks.”
Says Grigoryants: “The ideals created by the media continue to be emulated. Teens are already self-conscious, but in Southern California they are even moreso.”
Though he admits a nose job can “positively affect a person’s self-esteem,” he thinks teens aren’t mature enough to realize that it’s permanent.
As a result, they end up regretting the decision to change their beaks which can affect their confidence even worse.
