Streetwise Vatos Can Be Gay
Outspoken Grammy winners Ozomatli have just released a controversial song about same-sex unions called "Gay Vatos In Love."

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Don’t judge streetwise, tattooed “vatos” by their looks – they could be gay like anyone else.Grammy-winning activists Ozomatli have just dropped a new track dubbed “Gay Vatos In Love” from their latest album, Fire Away.
The controversial ditty celebrates same-sex unions – particularly among “vatos,” or Latino dudes – with lyrics like: Gay vatos in love/ if the world can’t understand/ stand by your man.
Band member Ulises Bella says the song was inspired by the Proposition 8 protests in California and the ongoing stigma gay Latinos face.
He argues that there’s no “one way to be gay” since really anyone can be gay, including tough, hardcore gangsters.
To that end, Bella says Ozomatli got real life “gay vatos in love” to appear in their music video and share their relationships.
Bella says his crew is proud to support gay rights and would gladly lend their jam to rallies and pride parades across the globe.
