HOLLYWOOD (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Movie icon Marilyn Monroe was such a perfectionist, it once took her 65 takes to nail one little line.

In honor of Monroe’s birthday (June 1), Stephen Schochet – author of Hollywood Stories: Short, Entertaining Anecdotes About The Stars And Legends Of The Movies! – is exposing lesser-known tales of the blonde bombshell.

That includes the time it took Monroe 65 takes to spit out the simple line, “It’s me, sugar,” in her 1959 flick Some Like It Hot.

Schochet says it was her only line in that scene but she wouldn’t deliver it right until she felt everything was perfect.

Another secret about Monroe: She tried to imprint her butt instead of her hands in the cement at Grauman’s Chinese Theater in 1953 because she figured that was the body part she’d be most remembered for anyway, but her risque request was denied.

Finally, Schochet says it took Monroe longer to apply her make-up for movies than it took Boris Karloff to turn into Frankenstein.
