`American Idol' Winner Lee DeWyze Feeling Blue

Painting The Town: American Idol winner Lee DeWyze, a former paint store clerk, already has a color in mind for his very own paint swatch should his past employer in Mount Prospect, Illinois, honor him with one.

The color blue, that is.

The former paint store clerk from Mount Prospect, Illinois, says that if his past employer, Mt. Prospect Paint, decides to create a special swatch in his honor, he wants it to be in “blue or green earth tones” – his favorite color palette.

As for the hue’s name, DeWyze figures the only thing that makes sense is to simply name it “Lee DeWyze.”

The rocker admits much was made of his career as a paint stirrer on Idol, a gig he worked for six years.

However, he understands the appeal of his backstory as an “average, working American” who dreamed of achieving more.

But although DeWyze is now poised to become a major musician, his legacy as a talented paint matcher will live on.

DeWyze thinks it’s funny that Mount Prospect moms are now wearing T-shirts that read “Lee DeWyze Shook My Cans,” a reference to his color mixing skills.
