A Handbook For Transgendered Types

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – A new book is aimed at being the handbook for understanding transgendered people.

Morty Diamond, editor of the book, From the Inside Out: Radical Gender Transformation, FTM and Beyond (Manic D Press), says folks often get it wrong when they talk about transgendered people.

Diamond, who calls himself a “transman” – born female and converted to a man – says the media has trouble covering transgender stories because reporters can’t get past gender labels and often make frequent faux pas, like using the wrong pronoun.

He hopes that will change if they read his book of first- person narratives and poetry by 30 different transgender and gender-variant people – like the 52-year-old lesbian who became a man.

He says he put the book together because most stories are told by journalists and moviemakers, not real transgendered folks.

Diamond says, “The book will help people understand what we go through as transgender people.”
