‘Idol’ Finalist Plays Average Joe Card

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Just like Sly and The Family Stone once sang, American Idol finalist Michael Sarver is “Everyday People.”

Sarver – an oil rig worker from Jasper, Texas – was crowned a Top 12 finalist on American Idol this past Wednesday (Feb. 18).

He was “shocked” to earn the coveted spot, and thinks his “hardworking American” vibe helped him sway votes.

He explains, “Being an average American may be part of my appeal. People love watching everyday people succeed and rise from the ashes.”

Sarver thinks his blue collar job is relatable, especially during tough economic times when people with less than glamorous jobs are living paycheck to paycheck.

The roughneck hopes to also appeal to viewers as a family man, and can’t wait to have his wife and kids attend a taping of the show.

Idol airs Tuesdays and Wednesdays on FOX.
