Fake Murders Prepare Town For Real Bloodshed

LANGLEY, Wash. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Solving a fake murder can prepare you for the real deal.

Just ask the residents in Langley, Washington, a small town that holds an annual “Muder Mystery Weekend,” where thousands of sleuths comb the streets and collect clues to solve a pretend murder.

This year’s untimely death happens this weekend (Feb. 21- 22), and may be good preparation in case a real homicide ever goes down.

Event spokesperson Sherry Mays says the mystery murder is the only killing that ever occurs in the quiet seaside village, but locals are ready should a real life murderer strike.

She says, “We definitely have some seasoned sleuths here. If someone was killed, it would surprise us all, but people would put on their Sherlock Holmes hat and solve that crime. I’m sure the police department would love that.”

With this being the 60th anniversary of the event, Mays reveals that a “cereal” killer will be to blame and that silver salmon – since it’s the silver anniversary – will play a role in the caper.
