NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Ever wonder why the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit models are so skinny? Well, you’d be skinny too if you dined on guinea pig.

The tiny rodents were the main course for the lanky ladies while they were shooting in Ecuador for the latest Sport Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.

It turns out guinea pig is a local delicacy and, to make the pigs even more flavorful for the models, the restaurant actually served them with head and legs attached.

Other shapely stats about this year’s swimsuit edition, which hits stands today (Feb. 18)...

  • Although photographers snapped more than 162,000 photos on 2,695 rolls of film, only 72 shots of the swimsuit models made it to the issue.

  • 2000 different bathing suits were considered for the shots, but only 69 made the final “cut.”

  • And, finally, for all of you who love a “boxers or briefs” type of debate, the final swimsuit count is: 53 bikinis and 16 one-pieces.
