BALTIMORE (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Elvis isn’t the only dead celebrity who inspires impersonators – add Edgar Allan Poe to the list.

According to Baltimore-based actor David Keltz, there are about 25 “pretend Poes” who appear as Poe at various events each year to read his poems and short stories.

Keltz himself performs Poe as many as 200 times a year and one of his strangest “Poe Shows” took place at a medical conference for pathologists who perform autopsies. As a gag, the doctors wanted Keltz to show up as the corpse of Edgar Allan Poe.

Because Poe is best known for his horror stories, Halloween is naturally Keltz’s busiest season. Although he’ll be performing Poe shows all this week, he says the highlight will be a dramatic interpretation of The Tell-Tale Heart at the Edgar Allan Poe House in Baltimore.
