SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – How’d you like to buy the Golden Gate Bridge – cheap?

A man in Santa Cruz, California, has purchased nearly 40 tons of scrap metal from the famous San Francisco landmark and is selling chunks of it for $20 a pop as 4-inch-high paperweights.

The orange-colored junk metal came from a pedestrian railing that was recently removed and refurbished.

Businessman Vincent Bindi paid nearly $30,000 for the Golden Gate scrap and says he did it out of patriotism, not profit.

It seems the discarded metal was going to be shipped to Korea for recycling until Bindi convinced bridge contractors that Americans would actually buy the pieces of the bridge as souvenirs.
