Three separate mixologists across American have created cocktails honoring King.
New York-based drinkmaster Daniel Delson says his King Cola, a blend of Coca-Cola and Chambord, is a non- violent drink with a sweet southern charm that can be enjoyed by everyone, everywhere.
But Boston-based bartender Steve Capioccia thinks his drink, the MLK, is the one that will have them marching in the streets. The drink combines Kahlua, cream and Captain Morgan rum and is designed to remind people of what happens when black and white come together.
Not all the King cocktails contain booze. The San Francisco- based Samovar Tea company has an annual special on Orange Ginger tea, which owner Jesse Jacobs says is meant to be a non-alcoholic version of Dr. Kings favorite drink, vodka and orange juice.
