LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Even though an entire generation of kids know the lyrics to Schoolhouse Rock songs like “Conjunction Junction,” the guy who sang them admits he still needs a lyric sheet.

Jazz singer Jack Sheldon – who currently is singing the Pepcid-AC TV jingle – says when he recorded “Conjunction Junction” and “I’m Just A Bill” back in the early 70s, he read them off a lyric sheet in one take.

Sheldon says he’s surprised that he’s better known for the kiddie songs than for his work with Merv Griffin, Jackie Gleason and Chet Baker.

Not that he minds. Sheldon says when he performed a Schoolhouse Rock concert in L.A. a few years ago, all the Gen X’ers treated him like a member of the Beatles.

The Andrews-McMeel publishing company has just released storybook versions of Conjunction Junction and I’m Just A Bill complete with lyrics and illustrations from the original cartoon.
