‘50S TEEN SLANG TERMS

SAN FRANCISCO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – If you think today’s teen slang words like fresh, dope and chill sound strange, you should have been around in the ’50s.

A new book called Teenage Confidential (Chronicle Books) lists some of the more bizarre street slang from the ’50s.

  • Harlem Toothpick (a pocket knife).

  • Idea pot (a person’s head).

  • Copping a squat (to sit down).

  • Ground grabbers (feet).

  • Fish hooks (fingers).

  • Goo (food).

  • Fine dinner (an attractive woman).
