GLOUCESTERSHIRE, England (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – There’s a minister’s wife in Tetbury, England, who is just as interested in cross-your-heart bras as she is in crosses.

That’s because Rosemary Hawthorne – wife of the Reverend John Hawthorne – is an underwear historian who’s been collecting women’s panties for nearly 25 years.

Hawthorne has all kinds of undies in her collection including pantaloons from the 1850s, camiknickers from the Roaring Twenties and cone-shaped bras from the 1950s. Her oldest piece of underwear is a corset from 1750 that features 169 whalebones.

Hawthorne says you can learn a lot about the past by looking at bras and panties.

For instance, she says her collection of corsets proves that women have always coveted thin waists even during the gay ’90s when being fat was a sign that you were living well.
