LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – You might not know Ron Dante by name but, chances are, you’d recognize his voice immediately: Dante sang the lead vocals for the 1969 No. 1 hit “Sugar, Sugar” which was recorded by a studio group called The Archies.

Dante says he recorded “Sugar, Sugar” and nine other songs in about 90 minutes and he had no idea it would become a monster hit. He says the highlight was when Ed Sullivan aired an animated version of The Archies singing “Sugar, Sugar.”

After the Archies folded, Dante left the bubble gum behind and started producing hits for Barry Manilow including “Copacabana” and “Mandy.”

These days, Dante is promoting a Valentines Day-themed CD- single of “Sugar, Sugar” which is designed to look like a candy heart. He’s also producing an upcoming series of videos called Legends Live, which will feature new videos from ’60s artists like Lou Christie and Paul Revere.
