GYOR, Hungary (Wireless Flash) If you have braces or fillings, you know that chewing on tin foil can be quite a shock but it may do some good.
A study by the Hungarian Dental University of Gyor shows that tin foil-induced electrical charges can actually help kill germs in your mouth.
Researcher Miklos Gombkoto says silver or gold fillings interact with the tin foil to create an electrical charge that may help kill many of the germs that cause bad breath.
The month-long study involved 20 Hungarian college students who were paid $75 to chew tin foil for 30 seconds three times a day.
Although the findings are only preliminary, Gombkoto says
evidence suggests that in the future, tin foil may be as widely
used as dental floss.
