OPRAH BEEF TRIAL HAD LITTLE IMPACT ON SALES OF VEGGIE BURGERS

AMARILLO, Texas (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Even though Oprah Winfrey won a round for veggie lovers in her “beef” with Texas cattle ranchers, there have been no outbreaks of vegetarianism in the Lone Star State.

According to the Fantastic Foods company, which makes frozen vegetarian burgers, the number of veggie burgers sold in Texas during the three-week trial didn’t increase one iota.

It’s a let down to the company, which had anticipated a sudden run on veggie burgers during and after the trial. It was also planning on donating to a food bank the same number of burgers it sold in Texas during the trial.

A Fantastic Foods spokesman admits their veggie burgers aren’t “wildly popular” in Texas, but says the company will still donate 120 cartons of the veggie burgers to the High Plains Food Bank in Amarillo.
