LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) Now that Elton John has sold 35 million copies of Candle In The Wind 97, lyricist Bernie Taupin is going to do the write thing and auction off the original lyrics for charity.
Taupins original lyrics to the Princess Di tribute will be auctioned off February 11 in Los Angeles by the Christies auction house.
The lyric sheet includes lines that didnt make it such as Loveliness weve lost/ There empty days without your smile/ This torch well always carry/ For our nations golden child.
The lyrics also include a big change from the opening line: Goodbye Englands Rose was originally Goodbye English Rose.
Money raised from the auction will go to The Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund and will benefit Childrens Hospital in Los Angeles.
Because the lyrics are so closely associated with Dis death, Christies officials say its in poor taste to estimate how much the lyrics will fetch.
