SAN FRANCISCO (Wireless Flash) – If you’re tired of hearing about all those books about angels and TV shows like Touched By An Angel, blame the internet.
Internet expert Ana Marie Cox claims the recent surge of interest in guardian angels and spiritual advisors may be a direct result of how the internet influences society.
Cox says many disillusioned “netizens” are looking to a higher power these days because they’re not finding answers to life’s big questions on the internet. She says the internet chops information up into little fragments, making it harder for folks to find solutions and life lessons. As a result, people are turning off their modems and turning on to the Bible and other spiritual works.
Cox shares other secrets of the internet in a new book called Suck: Worst Case Scenarios in Media, Culture, Advertising and the Internet (Wired Books).
