SAN FRANCISCO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Good Will Hunting is not only a top Oscar contender, it’s a top pick of San Francisco’s psychiatrists, who have awarded the film something called a “Shrinkie.”

According to the San Francisco Psychoanalytic Institute, the “Shrinkies” honor films that give psychological insight as to how folks deal with mental stress and illness.

Good Will Hunting gets its Shrinkie because it presents a therapist as a real person who actually has a positive effect on his patient. Other winners of Shrinkies include...

  • The Ice Storm, because it shows that children of adulterers often imitate their parents’ behavior in order to “connect with humanity.”

  • As Good As It Gets for showing that the reason why humans are nice to each other is to avoid rejection.

  • And, finally, the shrinks are giving Woody Allen’s comedy, Deconstructing Harry, a “Shrinkie” because it suggests “...he’s using neurosis in a comic manner on film to justify bad behavior in real life.”
